How to MIG Weld Lighted Globes

Follow step-by-step instructions on how to weld Lighted Globes using the Handler 140® MIG welder. 

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Handler 140® MIG welder
  • Angle grinder with cut off wheel or band saw
  • Clamps
  • Paint
  • Metal roller to form rings (optional)
  • 2’ globe: 1/2” x 1/8” x 6.28’ flat bar (6pcs) 
  • 3’ globe: 1/2” x 1/8” x 9.42’ flat bar (6pcs)
  • 4’ globe: 1” x 1/8” x 12.57’ flat bar (7pcs)

Steps:

Cut the flat bar to desired length.
Form flat bar into a ring with a roller or by hand.
Repeat process to create additional rings.
Use scrap flat stock & clamps to secure ring ends together.
Weld the first ring.
Weld the second ring.
Weld first four rings as shown.
Turn glove 90 degrees and weld remaining rings.
Weld around the globe where rings intersect.
