How to Weld a Decorative Snowman

Follow step-by-step instructions on how to weld a Decorative Snowman using the Handler® 125 MIG welder. 

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Handler® 125 MIG welder
  • AirForce® 40i plasma cutter
  • Angle grinder with flap wheel
  • Clamp
  • Hammer
  • Circle guide (optional)
  • 14ga sheet steel (size as needed)
  • Pipe – different diameters for cutting out the body (optional)
  • 3/16” x 20” round bar (optional for outdoor use)

Steps:

Decorative snowman step 1
Find materials to use as a guide to help cut circles.

Plasma cut three circles for the snowman. Tip: Use a pipe as a guide.

Plasma cut the hat.
Decorative snowman step 4
Clean up and smooth the edges of the metal. Tip: Use a hammer on the edges before using a flap wheel.

Use the angle grinder to smooth the edges of the metal.

Lay out pieces facedown and tack weld.
Decorative snowman step 7
Paint and decorate.

Optional: Weld a stake to the back to stick in the ground.
