How to MIG Weld an American Flag [Guide]


Follow step-by-step instructions on how to create an American flag using the NEW Multi-Handler™ 200 multiprocess welder.

 

Tools and Materials Needed:

  • Hobart® Multi-Handler™ 200 multiprocess welder
  • 3 - C-Channel 48” L
  • 4- C-Channel 28” L
  • 2- Flat stock 26” L x 1/8” W
  • 2- Flat stock 20” L x 1/8” W
  • A36 Mild steel plate: 20” L x 14” H
  • 12 - Square tubing 2” x 2”
  • Clamps
  • Angle grinder
  • Tape measure
  • Magnetic holders
  • Carpenter square

Steps:

American flag step 1

Layout the materials of the flag design upside-down on the worktable.

Tip: Use spacers to keep a consistent space between the metal strips.

Square the metal plate with bottom of C-Channel.
American Flag step 3
To square the project, make sure measurements from corner to corner are the same.

Make sure the spacers are tight.
American Flag step 5
Tack weld each corner.
American Flag step 6
Tack weld all of the middle pieces.

Weld all of the joints.
