I ordered a couple of small items from Harbor Freight two weeks ago. They were a bit cheaper than any place local so I figured I'd order and save myself a trip. Now, two weeks later, I still don't have all the order and the money I thought I would save was thrown out with their 'handling' fee. I called to get a tracking number after a week and found that one of the items had just shipped and probably wouldn't show up for 7-14 days! I'll be going locally from here on out.

Rusty, i'm not sure where in SC you are but your orders from northern will ship from Fort Mill, SC...if you 're anywhere near there you can do a "will call"...i've had better luck doing orders that way...hope that helps a little...

Actually I am in Fort Mill, about 1 or 2 miles from the Northern Tool distribution warehouse. I have ordered several things and picked up on a "will call", but the welder was "factory shipped". It was some kind of shipping agreement they have with Hobart. I tried to persuade them to let me pick it up, but they wouldn't.

I ordered a generator form them last year, and they wanted about $125 to ship it 1 or 2 miles. That's when I found out about the "will call". I picked it up the next day and saved the $125 (all I did was spend it on another tool).

One other thing:

When I bought my welder, I also bought a Hobart auto-darkening hood. Funny thing though. It shipped from Fort Miill, SC to Columbia, SC UPS center to Charlotte, NC UPS center then back to Fort Mill to my house. I didn't argue as it was free shipping, but that was kind of retarded. Two days worth of shipping time to go 1 or 2 miles.

yep

In the end, I suppose all will be well when my welder shows up. I just thought it was awfull cheap of Northern Tool to not really even ackoweldge their error. Frankly, a $5 gift certificate, or even a courteous voice on the other end of the phone would've gone a long way. I got neither.

Now, I will be really pissed if I don't get the free cart that is supposed to be included with the welder. If that happens, I will really wish I had just gone to Lowe's for the red 135!

Lucky for me, I bought all the supplies to go with the welder: auto-dark hood, wire, replacement tips and nozzle, and gloves, from Cyberweld. They shipped the order the same day they got it, and I have the accessories waiting for a welder. I'm quite pleased with Cyberweld, and after the quality of service I recieved from Northerntool, I'm glad they didn't get my business as far as accessories go.

Kipper, i'm in Rock Hill...tell those guys over at low country 4x4 i said hey...check their web site too...they've got a great new 4x4 message board...just came up this week...

www.lowcountry4x4.com

less, i hope you get your cart too...i bought a hh135 a month or so ago from the northern store here in town and a week later they ran a special where you get the cart and welder on sale...i went out to ask if they would honor the cart deal since it hadn't been but a week since i purchased the welder...haha...not only was the ***. manager not willing to honor the cart deal he was pretty nasty about it as well...good luck...you'll love it once it gets here...i had a little buyers remorse at first after getting my 135, thinking i should've gotten a bigger unit but after being able to run over to the inlaw's farm and plug into a 110v outlet and weld on a tractor for him i figured it was the right unit for the job...
