Favorite helmet?

There's a lot of helmet threads, but this is more general. Post you're favorite helmet, or possible new favorite!

Anyway, my favorite helmet I own is my Fibre-Metal Superglas Wide Vision helmet with a straight front. My latest helmet acquisition, a Fibre-Metal Pipeliner is closing the gap! I like it's light weight and elastic head gear! I broke it in today, and had no complaints!

(ignore the "mad scientist" hat head in the picture!)

Wouldn't trade my pancake hood for anything else. Have a Jackson 2X4 EQC in it. Also like my FibreMetal Pipeline hood like you have. For shop work (don't do a lot of it anymore), I've had awfully good luck with my 9 year old Speedglas 9000X. Been a great hood. Need to get a new silver front piece for it, has holes all the way through from air-arcing and is starting to pit the lens.

Personally I like the cig-weld ones. It must be a genuine cig weld though, and there are probably hundreds of cheap chinese ones that look exactly the same.

Reason I like these:
1. Cheap
2. Don't have to worry about some a-hole at work stealing it, since everyone has the exact same one
3. Work supplies lenses
4. Light
5. When I have the helmet flipped up it pretty much locks in and doesn't come down, but when I want to flip it down it comes down no problem
6. Flip up lens turns the helmet into a grinding shield - saving lots of time and making things easier and safer. Most other helmets you need to flip up the whole helmet, and then you have to grind with just safety glasses, which doesnt really cut it for me.

Also in my opinion the fiber metal ones that look like this are crap. Heres why:
1. About 10 times heavier then they need to be. My neck hurts like a b*tch after 10 minutes.
2. Crappy head gear, doesnt stay up when you want it to, and doesnt flip down when you want it to.
3. Crappy flip up lens, to stiff to flip down and get sticky after a while.

Since you asked, I like my Optrel Satellite. I have a couple of others, including a HF special and an old Morsafe with an AD lens, as well as another old plastic cheap hood, that is functional, but that's about it. Why do I like my Optrel? Well, since I paid a lot for it, I have to like it. (Oh, and the clarity, styling (YES, I LIKE THE WAY IT LOOKS!), and coverage.)

Miller Elite series. Nice big window, four independant sensors, no more getting flashed from covered sensors. Plenty of settings to suit all different conditions.

Speedglas, Miller and Kempi are good brands of helmet. I've used both speedglas and miller over the years and I think they're the best.

I know old post but just had to agree with Full Pen, would'nt trade my pancake for anything, especially going downhill with kamikazi slag rockets trying to jump in your ear. Comfortable, light weight, no arc flash or sun trouble.

Thumbs up Speedglas for ME!

DEFINITELY my SPEEDGLAS!

I've got a Hobart Hood and a few other older helmets that are not auto dim, but I love the Speedglas.

It's probably not any better than any other top of the line helmet, but it's what I got used to, and have now become very comfortable with. It shows extreme wear, but I consider that battle scars.

'nuff said!

Helmets

I like the Optrel Satellite because of the adjustable head band and the darkness adjustability and the grinding mode.

I have a speedglass xl. it has a few miles on it. but compared to my other one it's a cadilac. I never could get used to the blue tinge my other auto darkening helmet has to it.
