Cert. test pic

Here is a pic of my final product from my 3G cert. practice test. It was welding vertical up on 3/8" plate with a 60 degree overall V-Groove. I did grind a small land on both sides of the groove, it was spaced 1/4" apart with a back up bar and welded from the first bead to the last with 1/8" 7018 filler rod. Here are the pics!

Good job on the 3/8" plate. I do have one suggestion. When you grind the face and root bend straps take the extra time to grind the sides of the straps as well. You would be wise to put a slight radius (1/16") on the edges I've seen a fair number of test straps fail because they were not properly prepared. An edge left without any radius has a higher chance of failure from stress risers (edge tears). Just a little constructive critique not a criticism.

Sberry, thank ya! I will try not to let it get that way .

Dr, You're right, I forgot to grind the one on the right because of the hurry I got into, but the left one was grinded, the bend kind of puckered the edge out a little and I got a little carried away on the left side of it when I was grinding, heh heh...Thanks for the comments.
