bead shots for constructive/destructive critique

hey..

what follows is a series of beads at different settings which are marked in the shots. wire size is .030, gas is c25. there is a shot of the machine in a recent post "spray transfer", it is a migmaster 250 (250 amp unit). it has coarse settings low, med, high. fine 1 - 8, ws 1 - 10. markings on shots reflect these eg: m,3,3.

i realize this forum isn't an online welding course but i would sure appreciate some of you fellas picking them apart if you can find the time. i've been picking this stuff on my own my trial and error (and some ojt). i start a noncredit course mar 10 but i like to be ahead of the game if possible.

any critisism is welcome....thanks

first is butt joint

thanks for not leavin' me hangin'...

ya..well..i know 72 turned out pretty crappy and i'm not crazy about 71 or 75.

75 is i'm assuming pretty close to a spray..reminded me of that charlie daniels band song "the devil went down to georgia" as it made an evil hiss but i was all over the place.

71 had pretty bad undercut which i'm not sure how to fix...my initial reaction is to increase my ws. but won't this increase the current and possibly increase the undercut? or is it just that things get too hot for a given thickness of metal.

the square stuff was a pleasant surprise as i wasn't crazy how it looked and tried to break it...then got tired of trying.

thanks again

Weld one along one side only so you can break it backwards and see whats in the joint.
