Pictures are of a practice piece done with my new Stickmate. Its 2" sch120 carbon with 35degree bevel w/ 1/8" land and 1/8' gap. 6010 root pass. 3/16" hot pass 7018. 2 fill passes w/ 3/16" 7018. and 1 cover pass w/ 1/8" 7018 all done with pipe horizontal and not moved:confused during process.

are you doing this for a pipe test? i know that for ua 21 test you need a root (5p), hot pass,
2 fills, and 3 caps (7018). it also looks like you might be a little hot. you have undercut in a couple of pics.

I've done worse!

Not too bad considering that it's 2" and there aint no sweet spots on 2". How did the penetration look?

have you worked on larger diameter pipe? the reason i ask is because when i first started working on getting my cert. i started with xxl 2". i was having a heck of a time. one of the instructors said it might be a good idea to go to 6" sch 40 for awhile. it really helped. that xxl 45 fixed test is a bear.

Angry 6" sch 40

I have used Sch 40 6" About 8 times, it is more forgiving. Just don't have anymore on hand.
