Bye, Bye, Bugatti!

Just FYI, the Bugatti sold at its first "outing"...a "pickin''" gathering of some artsy/literary/musician types. I stuck it in the truck to show it off, didn't last 10 minutes...and a call for another in that vein for a sculpture garden. (I keep thinking of a fat fendered "squashed-down" Chevy lowrider based on a '47 (yup, I would cut up the hood I have and start fabbing from that). This could be an excuse to buy an English wheel to form some curved body shape (by the way Jennifer Lopez was on Leno tonight...see the connection??), but I can do pretty well with a shot bag and bossing mallet! What Fun!!
My vision would not "Look Like" this, but would carry enough of this car's soul that you would know where it came from!...

I asked $400.00, and got the full amount. If I had placed it in a gallery, they would have probably priced it at about $950.00, so a HUGE savings was realized by "bypassing the middleman"!! I had it on Craigslist at $395.00, and got a couple back-and-forths on it, but no buy.

Any idea how much time and materials you had in it? Most of that stuff you already had on-hand didn't you?

Congrats too, by the way!

Most of it was already on hand...I'm always dragging treasures home...rescuing them from scrap heaps..I had one can of blue spray paint ($4.00) (I already had the red for the wheels), the four wing nuts for the "knock-offs" $2.50), the wheelbarrow ($1.00), the scuba mask (50 cents)...probably about $10.00 out of pocket, and on and off about a week to build, but I'd guess less than 10 hours actual "build time"...it went together pretty quick. I'd do something, then go away and think about it, then go back and hit it again, but that's just how I work...usually going from one project to another, with about three going on at any given time. The rain kept me pushed back a bit, we were getting lots of it, and I work under my carport.

You mean you didn't sell them upgrades, like clear-coat, undercoating, extended warranty, deluxe floor mats, etc?
