New guy...old school welder/cutter

Howdi,

I just bought a Handler 140 last month and gotta say, love these wire welders and the looks of the weld....they are so pretty. I'm an old time stick welder and have no experience with wire other than this month but am learning. Last week, I bought the Airforce 400 cutter from Cyberweld and wow, this is too fun. Again, an old time oxy-acetylene cutter. It's amazing what these new toys will do, besides the heavy stuff. I'm keeping my old Lincoln Buzzer though...might I need to burn a bead on some heavy stuff, and will continue the rent on the bottles too. Just finished a new garage (36x40) so I have a place out of the weather to play in.
Here's a pic of welding table I through together out of some junk. Nothing crafty, just had some scrap I cut and wired together. Don't have much to offer the forum, don't have any wire weld or plasma cutting skill yet. I'll have more questions than answers.

Steve

Welcome to the forum, lots of great people here. I feel sure you have lots more to offer than you think you do with your O/A & SMAW experience, and all are welcome here. If you have questions, post the up, won't take long to get answers ... BTW nice bead there, and the table is coming along nicely too.

nice lil combo yoiu got there. you should realy enjoy them. i got a MM135 about 6 years ago and use the heck out of it. also got a spectrum 125C again a realy cool lil toy for making stuff with. been grat fun, i would have went up a size on the plasma but didnt have a decent air suply at the time. foolish move i could have gotten a new air compressor with just the savings in consumable by now LOL oh well i got more air now so hope to trade up some day to the bigger cutter.
here are a few projects i made with the plasma and MOIG combo. but you will find lots of uses for them. they are both simple to set up and fast to get the job done. a role of .035 flux core alows for some fast easy outside work. get a good 12gage 100ft extention cord and if you are pluged into a good circuit you are realy portable with the lil 140. you will find your self looking for reasons to use it they are just that much fun.
i built my 2 story shop with my MM135 with flux to build the skelitin and use the lil plasma to cut the corigated steel for the roof and sides. amazing what you can do with a few good tools.
modified my riding more too. so many things can be done with that lil welder of yours you will be having a blast with it for a long time.sounds like you got a nice sized play space.
welcome to the board. ask all you like and feel free to jump in whenever you want, not every thing is about how to weld it some things are just great shop tips and we can never get enough of them.
