garrettP's 16' Twin Tower (aluminum)

You asked and here it is. the bottom 4'6" is 3/8 6061 and the top 12' is 1/8" 6061. the bottom 4'6" wieghs 200lbs as does the top 12'. i used 1 1/2" swquare tube to build a structure for the 1/8" material which also holds the top structure to the 3/8" base. the antenna is made of 2" round tube with a 3/4" round tube for the top part. i will be putting a flashing red light up there too. the 4 verticle corners are mitered as they where on the twin towers and i will be grinding marks to make the different colors as you go up the tower as well as etching 59 verticle lines on each side to make it look just like the Twin Towers did.

i will post more pics when i get it up. oh, i made a base for it to mount on out of 4"X6" I-beams and also 4" square tube. this is 30" off of the ground and housed in 12" concrete tubes that stick up 13" from the ground. the mounting base for it is cool with in its self.

click on the links for the pics.

cutting 3/8" with skil saw

this shows the 1/8" and tube structure

an idea of how the top looks

Is this a tribute to the twin towers? How much was a plate of 3/8" Al? I guess that would be the north tower? One helluva project you got there! Nice..
