I have a cast nodular iron housing (1800 lbs). In the tubular area (14.00 dia x 5.00 long, 2.00 wall), there are significant porosity areas that I want to machine away. I would like to replace this with a steel bushing welded to the housing of the same size.
What type or sae grade steel should I use and what other prep should I consider?
