    Deck Gate

Some of you have seen this deck I've ben building for the last 5 months. Well, now it's mostly finished with the gates installed. I also put low voltage lighting on it too...looks real cool at night. I kinda went a little overboard on the latch assembly, but it was something I've always wanted to do. The latch is a double knife switch type that rises up when the "flower" is pushed down on the top.

Here's some more of the latch....rebar rules! The linkage and the vertical bars in the scrolls, are all #3 rebar. I gotta give thanks to Royal Fe, Duke for the inspiration to make furniture out of rebar. Totally cool dude!

Purdy nice gate. Just the right amount of detail work and the rebar fits in well. Good concept on the latch. That could be adapted to fit a lot of different gate applications.

    Gate latch

Great latch idea, nice gate. Are you going to paint it too or is it galvanized?

Great job as usual Rocky. How long until the dogs figure out how it works?

Off topic, what stain sealer did you end up using?

That looks great Rocky, I new you couldn't resist the urge to put at least one peice of rebar in there though.
Even when you strive for perfection the results are marginal.
So one must at least strive for perfection. And I still love the smell of 5P in the morning!

I used Cabot's....I'll have to wait and see how it holds up.

Excellent job, Rocky. That latch takes the cake! I'm going to have to make me something outta rebar now. I've got enough, might as well.

    Well done, Rocky!

I guess without the double latch the dogs would push their way out, huh?

    Cheers,
    Chris
