    lincoln square wave 175 problem

i was tigging some sheet metal my five year old machine when it just shut down. checked the power for a blown fuse but that was ok. never happened before.. looked for a reset button on the machine and there isn't any visible one.... waited a half hour and tried to switch it back on..nothing...read through the troubleshooting guide... not much help there... my question is: has anybody had a similar experience with their sw175??

Well if your incomming power is "OK", first check your machine switch. It's likely that that has failed. Since you didn't mention if there was a puff of smoke, the primary transformer is probably OK.

Sounds like some sort of internal overload/overheat protection that reset itself. Were you pushing up against the max amps limit or duty cycle limits?

I have the same machine (for sale, by the way). I do know that it has thermal overload protection, but it shouldn't have cut off at the amperage you were running. Maybe your breaker's not working well and causing a heat buildup... (just a guess).
