    vertical up

    am having a heck of a time flowing a vertical up on a semi trl. frame. using 12018 & approx 75 amp dc+. I assume my techniuqe is wrong. any help? thanks ,Darryll

    With that heat setting, I'm guessing 3/32 rod? Butt of fillett? How thick is the base metal?

    material is 3/8, joint is butt, welder set at 75 dc+,rod is 1/8 .thanks Darryll

    Heat too cold...heat range for 1/8" 12018 is 90 to 160 amps, with an optimum around 120 to 140. A preheat might help. too. DCEP or AC
