protecting electronics when welding on jeep

I am strongly considering purchasing a HH180 to weld different projects on jeep. Just wanted to know is there any risk to damaging electronic components, and if yes, then what precautions need to be taken.

Thanks in advance for your help and suggestions.

I suggest that you put the ground clamp as close to the weld area as you can. Think of it this way, anything between the weld area and the ground clamp will be exposed to the welding current.

This has been discussed many times, and there are two schools of thought. One says there aren't any problems with welding on vehicles, of which I, and others who do this also subscribe, and the other school that says you must disconnect battery and module before doing it.

As tucson says maintain a good ground....don't use HF TIG, but stick and MIG are OK. I only remove the battery when the welding would be close to the hydrogen gas produced by the battery. When batteries explode, it's not a pretty sight.

for what it's worth, My Gravely tractor manuals specifically state to disconnect battery before welding on a Gravely tractor. any kind of welding.

since it only takes 2 minutes, what can it hurt . besides, the battery post probably needs to be cleaned anyway.
