    Question Converting to gas

I currently have a Lincoln 175 MIG welder, that I use flux-core wire in. I really want to convert it to solid wire with gas shielding, but I need some advice on what is required? What type of gas should I get? I only weld cold rolled steel 3/8" or less in thickness. Should I just get the kit from Lincoln for CO2/Argon?

That's what I'd do. I don't know that machine, but if the gas valve is built-in, you can just go to your local welding supplier, buy a flowmeter, gas hose, and a tank of gas and go for it.

COČ is reactive, so it runs slightly hotter that C-25 (75% argon/25% COČ). I use it, and when the setup is right, there is very little to no spatter. C-25 is neater. No spatter unless you are way off with your settings. If you want to get into it, 85/15 or 86/14 is a great steel mix.

COČ is the cheapest. It goes up from there.

    Be well, and good luck.
