Anybody ever used the Jancy or the SteelMax hand held cold saws?
I used the Jancy at a show and it worked quite nicely. They are a bit pricey by comparison to a sidewinder or worm-drive and an appropriate blade. Blades available for sidewinders will have a limited depth of cut, since they operate at higher rpms. The worm-drive is a lower rpm and can usually cut as thick as the specialized saw. However, the specialized saw has the benefit of a chip collector and usually the motor sits lower on the baseplate as to get a slightly deeper cut.
I believe RockyD has one of the models.
The important things to remember when cutting:
1.) don't apply any sideward pressure.
2.) don't lug the motor down. keep the revs up.
3.) set the blade depth so that the blade's gullet just passes clear of the metal. this is the optimum cutting depth.
4.) if the cutoff end is large or heavy, make sure you hold it up so that when it drops it doesn't pinch the blade--thus possibly losing a few teeth.
these words of wisdom were provided by the distributor of the tool and appear to make sense.

Milwaukee has one. A guy let me use his and it kicked ***.
You talking about this one? http://www.milwaukeeconnect.com/weba...ntProd=281131# I bought the abrasive model of this you think I can use that blade on it?
Dman*,
You cannot use a carbide, ferrous-cutting blade on an abrasive cut-off machine because the machine's rpm is to high. Look at the weblink again and note the rpm compared to yours.

ok thanks I was just wondering I was looking at getting that one but they cost to much for me.
Is there a link to the Jancy or SteelMax cold cut saws?
