    New cart

Well, after looking over some great carts that were built here, I decided to finally build one for myself this weekend. Thanks for some great ideas. Still need to add some outlets like on Rocky's cart.

Looks like that'll do it. Looks good. And I for one like your choice of equipment.

You better cap those tubes before the cap police come by. Seriously though, if you cap them, not only will the look better but you'll not snag stuff.

Yea, I was hoping to get some plugs on the way home from work today. I am also hoping that the T/A 185 will be here today to fill up the top shelf. I'm sure I'll be asking more questions and looking for help after that. My first choice was the Dynasty 200....but the $1000.00 diff was too much for me. Next will be a bigger mig..... That will be blue for sure!......mostly because of the outstanding service that I have seen givin here from the Miller guys and gals.

Thanks for all the great info here to all!

It seems pretty stable, but I think I am going to put bigger and better wheels on...so it rolls better. I'll set the back wheels outboard at that time...good advice. Still need caps. I did get my T/a 185 today and got it set-up....the cart is now full...yippee! Ready to learn to tig. Wish me luck...I can't believe how hot it got today...I think it's up to almost 90 degrees. It's going to be hot playing with my new toy.

If it were my rig I would go to my local sporting goods store and get me an inch wide nylon strap to hold down the T/A 185 TIG unit. Run it under the built in handle and tighten down that $1.7K investment so it doesn't fall off on the floor.

That's what I would do if it was my rig.

Great advice. I have some extra straps that I can use.

    Got everything set-up

Well I just did my first tig welds. I'll post some photos for tips.
Did some 1/8" mild steel and some 1/16" 6061 alum.
Boy....this is going to take some time...esp with alum. Control seems pretty amazing....even on the very first weld on aluminum I didn't have any burn through....ugly welds though...ha

Going out to pick up some 1/8" alum to play with.

nice car and machines you got there....

show us some pics of your tig stuff....

    good luck!

ps: what gases are the two tanks have? I assumed that one is for the MIG and the other is for the TIG? Isnt the bottom machine a plasma cutter? If so doesnt a plasma machine used gas too? Sorry to be asking this, I have no clue on how plasmas work.

    Thanks,
one tank is c25 argon/co2 , the other is argon for the new tig welder. The bottom machine is a cutmaster 38 plasma cutter. It is hooked up to an air compressor. I don't know that much about it either...except that it cuts really well.

hehhee...well, atleast you have one...I dont!
So, a plasma cutter does not need gas? just an air compressor? Then how come it sparks and stuff? hehehe..sorry to be stupid about this, i have NO clue on plasma cutter..but besides that..again nice machines!

    regards

I believe it sparks because of the electricity used to heat the metal to a melting point and then the air blowing it out.
