Reminds me of the time I was visiting a Champion auto parts store (Iron Range of Minnesota, should tell you something..)
Anyways, guy is in the parking lot with the front left tire off, and it is held up with the tire changing jack. Has entire upper body under car, working away. Of course the jack is the sisors type, where the threaded rod is held by a welded nut on the outside, just ready to pop off...
- don't trust hydraulic jacks, use stands
- place objects, such as the removed wheel, under the car's frame rail
- place lots of objects, such as wooden cribbing, in case it does fall..
Every year or so like clockwork there is a news item of someone getting smushed under a car.
