Magic Kingdom

I spent a day at Disney World Magic Kingdom recently. Had lots of time to admire great structural steel, architectural sheet metal and ornamental iron work while standing in line. It's a major attraction there if your knowledgeable enough to appreciate it. Saw some good project ideas.

Disney's ornamental iron work was better than Universal Studio's but longer lines.

Hi Roger,

Thanks for the link to the article. Pretty neat! Disney has kept many artists and craftsworkers very busy over the years with all of their sheet metal and ironwork. In all cases there is tremendous attention to detail. The show sets are every bit as important as the rides.

PS The first two weeks of December and then after the New Year are great times to go to Walt Disney World. The lines are much smaller and the weather is great!

Some of the aluminum handrails at Disney came through my shop (very few, but still..). I did some welding on them when the local company that does them all the time got behind and I was contracted to help out. I also make hundreds of roller coaster seatback inserts for the amusement park industry.
