Looking to buy a scarfing torch

Somewhere on this forum is a thread about a member finding scarfing torches cheap at garage sales . I have searched and cant find it. I am looking for a Harris or a Smiths scarfing torch to buy used. These torches have two peice tips and three lines.....two oxy and one fuel and are usually 5 or 6 footers. I have come to the point where my 5 ft Victor at work just hasnt got the horsepower to cut 30 inch slabs. If the torch needs a rebuild thats fine with me. I would be glad to pay shipping plus a small finders fee for the right torch. Thanks in advance

Might have been me but we never used a torch for cutting die (bolster) plates, we used a phosporus/oxygen lance. 30" is childs play for a lance.
So little time...So many machine tools.........

I have a thermic lance but the burning bars are 14 bucks each. A scarfing torch would be much cheaper to run

I recall the thread, but it mentioned if I remember right that such sales were near where steel mills had closed.

If you post actual model numbers for what you are looking for that will make them easier to find.
High capacity torches may not be listed as scarfing torches even in manufacturers literature.

"Scarfing torch" doesn't get much results in Ebay searches etc.

This looks like a Harris ya might want, cuts to 50".

Good hunting, and post some cutting pics when you find one!

The torch that I am looking for was made by different manufacturers like smiths, harris and victor that I have seen. They all run three hoses. 1 3/8 fuel,1 3/8 oxy and 1 1/2 oxy for cutting. Tips run about 150$ apeice. I would like a 5 footer but a 6 or 8 would do fine. Our Praxair salesman sold my boss a 5 foot victor for 1200$ but I can cut faster with a hacksaw,so thats why im looking to buy my own. The company will supply oxy and fuel as well as buy my tips (I get about a year out of a tip)
I am posting a pic of this weeks victum to be cut up for scrap. This 1965 Koehring 35 tonner shows 6900 on the speedo on the front engine and 960 hours on the 453 detroit upper engine. The owners were having trouble paying and keeping and operator due to our goofy hoisting laws so they scrapped the old girl......what a shame
