    Newbie

Retired...looking for a new pastime or hobby and was always wanting to learn to weld.

Looks like a great group to be involved with. I've got a lot to learn, but eagerly accept the challenge. A good weld is a beautiful thing to see and I greatly admire those able to make a good weld. My father-in-law was a retired welder, but unfortunately I was unable to have him teach me the art.

    Thumbs up Welcome

Welcome to the forums. You need to see if they have a college in your area that offers welding classes. If you never welded before that will get you off on the right foot.. You need to put your location in your profile..

    Thanks for the welcome.

The local 2 yr. college in town has an excellent welding program, but we live about 20 miles out in the country, and well, with gas prices and all, right now it would be too expensive for me to go in. Maybe I'll figure out a way to do it. Limited income now, being retired.

Some trade schools Will let you self pace classes. Can't hurt to ask if they allow flexible schedule going to class fewer days with longer hours. Jr college are less flexible but ask anyway.
