I've got a vise on my workbench. The jaws are quite textured to hold parts firmly. I'd like to make up a set of brass drop in jaw liners that will drop in over the top of the vise between the jaws when I want to clamp something that I don't want marked up. I need a sheet of brass probably about 6" x 12" to make liners for the two jaws. I'm looking for something about 1/16" - 1/8" thick (didn't look up the gauge size). An alternative would be to temporarily remove and replace the steel jaw inserts with ones made from brass bar stock maybe 1/2" x 3/4" x 5" (didn't measure that yet).
I haven't been able to locate brass sheet stock this thick or brass bar stock locally. Does anyone have any suggestions where I can find this material?
