    big old welder

    i got my hands on an old hobart gas welder. im trying to find out what year it is. its a 300amp with a chrysler inline flathead industrial 6cyl motor. model IND, type 5A-318,serial#55646. these # where found on the tag on the engine block. thank you for any info

    Probably from the 50's or earlier, and may be a GH3153 (military model). Go to "Liberated Manuals" site and you can download a free manual to find out.
