    Spiral Stairs

Just doing a quick google search, I find there are quite a few companies making spiral stair kits. Does anybody have any experience with these or comments? Any particular companies that we should/should not buy from?

Based on what I've seen so far, it would be much cheaper for the customer to use one of these, rather than building one from scratch. I've salvaged and re-installed a couple of these in the past, old industrial style, came out of San Francisco, but I need another one.

The only one I've dealt with is The Iron Shop, originally from Broomall, PA. I got a kit from them back in about 1987.

    How you doing, Joe?

What was your impression of them back then? I know it was a long time ago, but apparently nobody else buys spiral stair kits.

    Anybody had more recent experience?

Things have been going good, usmcpop. Not great, but good. More work the last twelve months than the two years before, but nowhere near as much as 5 years ago. However, due to the various laws, regulations, and actions taken by governor brown (the "second coming" ), the democrat legislature, and various unelected (appointed, mostly democrat environmentalist and do-gooder types) boards, commissions, and agencies; I have changed the way I'm conducting my business. I'd say more, but I have always refrained from discussing politics on either the Hobart or Miller boards.

Hey Joe! Any architectural salvage places over in S.F. that might help you out without charging an arm and a leg in the process?

I liked the one I got from The Iron Shop, but it was a rather low-end bolt together affair. It was medium gauge formed treads welded to pipe rings that slipped over an inner pipe. The pipe rings were tapped for set screws. It wasn't elegant but the Oak treads looked good when finished.

Roy, anything that is trendy with the artsy-fartsy crowd (including the limp-wristed types), usually prices are already out of our range. A few years ago "industrial-style architectural features" were all the rage, not sure if they still are.

We are looking for something made out of a catwalk grating or similar.

    Thanks guys.
