    Be kind to your T-slots

If your t-nuts allow the studs to thread thru, tig or mig 1 thread about 1/4 turn.
If a flange-nut grabs on a stud it tends to drive the stud.
If the stud is threaded thru the T-nut, it then jacks the t-slot upward,
which can bulge your table if you don't have deep T-slots.

When one picks up some wood or metal or stone and shapes it into something usefull
... I beleive that it has to be a deliberate effort to disavow a creator.

who formed and shaped the very resorces that you now add your will and force to.

    Phil,
Thinking about heading to the shop in the morning to gouge out some T-nuts on the shaper...need some large T-nuts for the large drill press with small studs for one vise. Come to think of it, I have some 5/8" T-bolts that fit that table I could just turn down and re-thread. Still, need some small T-nuts for the old Palmgren rotary/tilt table... Might not get it done tomorrow as I have to take out some slop in the table first. Could do it far more easily on the mill, but I like jacking around with the shaper.

Know what ya mean!! Shapers and Power Hacksaws "do it" for me.
I think the reciprocal motion is the key, it harmonizes with the internal Me.

    Cool

I was playing with my shaper last weekend. Made a key for my neighbor guy. The shaper was the easiest way besides a hack saw and a whiz wheel...Bob

    Phil,
This is what I like using for my drill press vise. I know it's a different application than what you are talking about. It sure beats having a loose stud in your T-nut..

I will take a pointed punch and on the bottom side of the t nut put three dimples close to the threads. It will bind the bolt before going through the nut. Works for me. Also keep your shaft and your nuts clean. ;-)
