    When one picks up some wood or metal or stone and shapes it into something usefull
    ... I beleive that it has to be a deliberate effort to disavow a creator.

    As you work these, and join them, you feel the force and the will of He
    who formed and shaped the very resorces that you now add your will and force to.
    Further one surely can know when your will and force is not aligned with His.

    VG,

    This is a replacement box truss for a substation here locally, I believe it holds switches. The original truss had been damaged by weather and age. So this one is to be G90 galvanized then delivered to Duke for the shut down to replace the old one.

    Thank You...... Cool..
    We used to have two outfits specialising in that class of fabrication.
    Think both are gone now.

    We've completed quite a few of similar jobs but the market is very, very competitive and the dead lines for work are very strict. Sorry to hear about your local shops.

    Did the original have the joints for the top and bottom panels in the middle of the chords, away from the joints
    of the side panels?

    @Dan Timberlake

    This was not a duplicate piece of an existing it was a new fabrication per my customer's drawings and specs. Although the original piece was damaged this truss was resigned to hold 12,000lbs more than the original. I hope this answers your question.

    See pictures below of other box trusses I've fabricated where the diagonal braces frame to one working point. You'll note many differences like continuous 3/4" holes 3" c/c down the entire length, larger diagonal bracing but miter cut into the outstanding leg of the framing angles, no exterior diagonal bracing as seen before, additional X bracing threw out these box trusses.

    I've built 100's of these things and I've yet to build two that are the exact same. Note the trusses stacked on the bottom picture both going to the same site but look how difference they are I really don't have an answer why the PE decides to build them the way he/she does. I'll keep you posted I have to build 40 more trusses in Feb and I'll post those pictures as well.

    The OP moved or deleted them some time after posting, or the server they are on is down. I remember seeing them when they were new.
