DOT regulations/federal law states the label shall be on the cylinder neck telling what type of gas is in the cylinder. That's all doesn't require anything else other than the name of the company filling it. And inert gas, or fuel type gas, or oxidizer. They don't say whether it is for MIG TIG or other welding process. Other than some fine print legalize.

Is there something more specific information that you are looking for?

The law is every cylinder should have a label leaving the LWS. Since there is no color code other than for the US armed forces

Cylinders must also identify their contents, which is typically in the form of a cylinder labelsticker applied near the neck of the cylinder. This is the only acceptable means of identifying non-medical-grade cylinder contents! There are only five medical grade gases that are permitted to be identified by color. All others are not required to be color-coded, and color codes may vary from one supplier to another.
In addition to what I posted in my first post there will be one of the Icons of the miniature versions of the full size placard diamonds for class 2 Gases

Of course the non-flammable gas is the inert gases used for shielding in welding
    flammable is the fuel gas
    Oxygen
They will be some variation of these, the first three green, red and yellow are the ones that are used for welding.

If it is supposed to be75/25 it will clearly say that on the label NOS is the short hand used in racing for Nitrous oxide or laughing gas.
Nitrous oxide, commonly known as laughing gas or sweet air,[1] is a chemical compound with the formula N2O. It is an oxide of nitrogen. At room temperature, it is a colorless non-flammable gas, with a slightly sweet odor and taste
Nitrous oxide, N2O, a gas commonly referred to as "nitrous" or "NOS" in vehicle racing
don't now if that is what you wanted. You should be able to tell when you start welding. Contact your supplier, as they don't want the liability factor and will change it out for the correct one!

A proper label would say Compressed Gas. N.O.S (Argon, Carbon dioxide). NOS = Not Otherwise Specified.

Good to know as both local places only use gas specific labels! Never heard or seen it refereed to that way. But if it does have the green label then it isn't the oxidizer Nitrous oxide.

i think the valve on the bottle should also tell you...

atleast for me all the co2 bottles ive ever seen uses a valve with male threads.. all the co2 bottles i've used were only 80cf though.. so it might be the larger bottles use a different valve..

all the 125cf 75/25 and also argon bottles i've ever used had female threads..
