    Mangled Metal

Here's a job that came in yesterday. Doing body work on a flat bed left front corner. I know it may not be perfect and I do have to put some more paint on the repair. But, after looking at the mangled metal that was there it's like brand new.
I would like to see what hit the truck or, what the truck hit. This is 10 gauge material a cross-member got wiped out and, the top corner where the stake pockets are was bent down about 45 degrees. The whole front left side of the truck bed has a upward heave. But to a untrained eye will not notice it.

Nice looking repair! Looks like a new wood bed is in the works also.

    Thanks Rick,
The floor is solid, tongue and grove and is factory. It's a 1991 bed. The lumber you see is for some sides the customer wants me to install.

Most beds (good ones) are Apitong....Urch, you should see some of the damage we get in the shop and not all from crashes. A while back we had a trailer that had a 44,0000 pound coil dropped on it. That was ugly.

Not permitted to take pictures at work, company policy.

I was able to finish the sides today. I should take a torch and cut off those longer bolts.

I would really like to have that piece of bent up metal.

If you could tell me the shipping on it I would pay you to get it to me.

    Thanks.

I am always on the lookout for those kinds of pieces of metal.
They have been bent in a way that cannot be re produced and thousands of pounds of force acted on it to get it into that shape.

Thanks again for your efforts to send me the piece.

It is just a part of the finished sculpture.
    Do not know yet.
    To be continued.
I will get this piece sandblasted first to remove all of the rust ,etc.,.
