    Argon Bottle Question

I've only ever welded with Flux Core (0.30) on my Hobart 140. I have now purchased a used 80CF Argon bottle and am ready to convert to MIG. I have two questions, though:
    1. Is the bottle okay for C25? I was reading about valve tubes that are found on Argon/CO2 mixed bottles.

    2. The bottle is exactly half-full with straight Argon (1100PSI). Can I have them fill it to about 1600PSI with straight CO2 to achieve a 75/25 mix?

    Thanks.

JP, most LWS gas suppliers exchange bottles when given empties or swap them when going from mixes to straight gasses. Might talk to your local LWS and see what exactly their policy is.

Enough tools to do anything, common sense to use em properly.
Big nasty scar, no kidneys, so you think you got issues?

    Thx

GTS-Welco was great. They swapped my Aron bottle with a mix, no questions asked. Thanks for the advice.

    Urch...

The second is pretty, the first needs repainted.

All mine are green with white lettering. I keep a thin rubber band around the middle so the employees at the refill station don't clang my bottles against adjacent bottles. Keeps the paint from chipping (for the most part)....

    Flip,
I have 5 bottles all owner but I never get them back. I am at the mercy of what they give me.
I have had crappy ones and I have had almost brand new ones. So painting them would be a waste of time in my case.

Convenient for me, Airgas has a full service plant just south of me (in Toledo, Ohio). I drop off my bottles and they mark them with a yellow plastic slip over collar and I pick them up the next day, filled.

I leave the plastic collar on so there is less effort expended (by them) on the refills.

I've seen some ugly bottles on the rack.

Only the O2 and the acetylene bottle I have are exchange. Those are usually ugly.....
