Which scroller? I've got the one from the "metal working tool kit" and I just make sure the stock (usually flat bar) is resting on the base plate of the scroller. Any little bit of crookedness (is that a word?) I do get, I can straighten out with a hammer or vise grips.
Does that help at all?
just keep the metal as straight as ya can while bending. I use a 1/2" round bar or hammer to tweak them into place.

After some trial and error I found that if I feed the stock straight in it comes out pretty nice.I eyeball it so it looks as though it is going in straight and then I marked the infeed roller. As for straightening what crookedness(yah I think it works too) I do get I put the scroll over the open jaws of my vise and tap with a hammer.
