SS MIG ? should I change the nozzle? HEELP

I have been welding for 12 years now and I have tried just about everything i thought I could but obviously I am not using the right technique. I have passed my vertical "open root" test, but when i weld my root in the overhead postion, the top side of my root the "root reinforcement" which should be at least flush or within -1/16 " but I end up with a serious convexed root reinf.
DrIQ suggested that i change the gas and the rootspecs but unfortunately in a test you cant do that. the test is on 1/2 " SS plate with a 60 deg. groove angle,OPEN ROOT w/ 1/8th root face and 1/8th root gap, dual shielding gas(75/25)gas flow rate is 35-40, w/ a flux core wire(.045) My wfs is 325-425 and my volts are within24-27. I did gret on my vert. at 325wfs and 27volts.
I have tried everything. One thing I was wondering is,what if I changed my nozzle to a tapered tip.
Any One with advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks

It is a fairly specialized test you are doing, which is why you get little response. You want to know if changing the tip will change your weld? Try it. Is using a flux core wire for SS standard, why use gas with flux core, or are you using dual shield? Also, post up some pictures. Usually if your pudle is too hot and sagging back down you need to adjust the amps (wire feed speed) down a little to cool the puddle. What angle are you holding the gun, what is your technique?

Also, if you want traffic on your posts, post in a better area. I feel when they split this board into 30 different pieces they made a mistake. If you look at the side where it shows number of posts in each area, there are a handfull in the SS area for the last 30 days, but thousands in the MIG and General Welding areas. If you want people to look at your MIG question, then post it there.

I did submit a question back in 2-20 in the mig section and it seems to me that the "senior members" have a more interest in replying to threads with derogatory comments and condescending statements, some community.

Yes it is a dual shield, and I appreciate your response. over the last couple of weeks I have found that a 5 deg. drag was the best , no weave, and I am starting to wonder if the wire i was using was loaded with moisture. consequently i failed the test, i am now waiting for the new wire. thanks again.

I hope I'm not in that group. My wife don't allow that type of behavior.

I make jokes occasionally to lighten up situations but I believe every question is just that, a question worth answering.

Personally, I don't like 'test' anything. I get clammy hands and I get nervous and probably elevated blood pressure, something I don't need at my age.
