Thumbs up electrode cathodic to carbon steel base material?

    Hi!

We plan to weld some carbon steel parts, which will be used in seawater
environment. We don't wish the weld joints corrode before the base
material (carbon steel). Are there any weld electrodes which is cathodic to
(more noble than) the base material? Is it possible for us to use
stainless steel electrodes to weld carbon steel? If so, will we still have a
    good weldability?

    Thanks.

How thick is the carbon base that you worry that the welds won't hold up as long as the base.
    What are you making???
