Questions on a Miller Plaz Cut Jr

I have the chance to purchase one that came from an estate and nobody can find any of the original manuals for it. The Miller site lists a manual for $15, but I hate to buy it just to find out it's not what I am looking for.

Does anyone here have an experience with one? or know what the specs are on it?

What I would like it for is 1/8 steel, expanded steel and body work.

    thanks.

    Alan

The Owner's Manual for this Serial number is not available online at this time.

    I already tried that route

    Plazcut Jr.

    Hello Alan,

The following is taken from a piece of sales literature that I happen to have:

CUTS THROUGH 3/16 IN. FERROUS AND NON-FERROUS MATERIAL

Plazcut Jr. is an easy to use plasma-cutting system designed for use with light gauge sheet metal. Clean dry air is used as the plasma gas and secondary gas. The dual range provides the proper amperage to cut material through 3/16 in thick. This results in clean cuts with little plate distortion. Preheating is not required. The lightweight torch quickly cuts through galvanized and painted metals and anodized light alloys as easily as mild or stainless steel once the arc is initiated. Plazcut Jr. is ideal for use where portability, economy, minimum distortion and speed are required.

    TORCH FEATURES:
     Small, lightweight, maneuverable
 Torch cable harness extendable to 40 ft.
 Converts from 180-degree pencil to 90-degree right angle in seconds.
     Only two consumable parts

    POWER SOURCE FEATURES
 To prevent torch damage, air supply must be present to operate
     Thermal protected
 Power on/off switch and pilot light
     Fan cooled
     Portable

    SPECIFICATIONS
    Range 1….12 Amps @ 90 Volts….100% Duty Cycle
    Range 2….23 Amps @ 110 Volts…30% Duty Cycle

    Plasma Secondary Gas/Air…..2.7 CFM @ 73PSI

Height: 33in. Width: 15in. Depth: 19in. (Dimensions rounded to closest inch)

Things to know or keep in mind:
No High Frequency in the machine for arc starting, a contact “scratch” type is used.
Air flows all the time through the torch the moment machine is turned on.
    Replacement consumables are still available.
The main PCB if it fails would cost above $700 to replace, that’s if you can find one, Miller no longer stocks this board.

    I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. That one on ebay is sitting at $405 when I looked, the asking price for the one in town is $300. $300 plus anther $700 if it conks out? I think I'd be better off with a new one under warranty.
