Hello everyone!
Just like to say thanks for all the info I gathered here on this site. It helped me decide what type of welder to buy and brand to choose. I have reviewed this site on and off for months gathering info on Mig Welders. I chose the Handler 187 and I am loving it....even tho I have never used one...I tact welted a quick cart and it worked great. Made a couple beads on some scrap and I was more than pleased with the results. I have to practice a little before I get any good at it but its a start. I am making a outside wood furnace for my shop and this thing will help me finish it up allot faster than drilling holes for bolts. I am a very active outdoor type and always have some project or another that requires welding of some sort. This will even help in my forging knives by allowing me to attach handles on certain types of knifes, axes and anything else I run across.
Well, I am rambling now but I am excited that after 20+ years of wishing, I got my ultimate toy!
Yes, allot of info here. Trying to gather all the info I can get as well as setting up shop. Just moved into my new home a few months ago and I have 16+ years of crap to sort though. Once I have thing in order (if that ever happens) I can decide on what I need next. First off, I need a Gas bottle for a little 75/25 mix to use with the Mig setup. Flux core is great but for thinner metals I need gas. Still burn though too much with flux core. Going to take me awhile to save up for a bottle it seems. $200 bucks for a tank is steep for my pocket and funds are low with the house payment and keeping up a family of 6. Also trying to find sources for metal. I am a scrounger and do not mind cleaning up a little rust or dismantling something to make what I need. I used to get scrap from junk yards but you cant do that now unless you know someone. All that great stuff going to waste :/
