    Spot welder help

    Hello Y'all,
I recently bought a spot welder, http://www.eastwood.com/spot-weld-gu...lectrodes.html, and I have two questions for y'all. Here comes the first one, does any one have any experience with the Eastwood model or the cheap knockoff that Harbor Freight sells, also being the one that I bought? The second question that I have is, based on your opinion or experience with this spot welder, could I use the high frequency start on my welder to initiate the spot weld? Thanks, Tony

Never used that gun, but I do know a bit about resistance welding, and to test your welds, you would take two strips of metal you will be welding, and put a few welds on them, an inch or so apart, then pull them apart, and will want to see one strip with a hole in it, and the other with a nugget on it. Also I really don't see a need for using HF on this tool.

Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
