NEC Question on 100A circuit

I have 200A to the house panel, and a double-pole 100A breaker in the house that feeds (through the proper-sized wire) a sub-panel in the shop.

Question: If I ever wanted to use the whole 100A in the shop (like say for a Sync 250 ) without having any lights on or any other loads, could I put a 100A double-pole breaker into the shop sub-panel, along with the proper-sized wire downstream to feed that circuit (AWG 4 I think) and be OK with the NEC?

I don't know about the NEC but my garage addition has a 100A panel with a main breaker running off a 100A breaker in one of the two 150A main panels (300A service). The connection is 2/0 aluminum. I did all the branch wiring and let an electrician spec the job and do the panel hookups.

If you go with 4 wire you need number 6 ground, depending on model a 6 may be required anyway, do you have a serial number and does this machine have pfc?

That service will run a 250, a 200 is quite a bit more friendly to it though.
