    need help please!

    i am doing a job test next week and i am having trouble with it it is overhead beveled carbon steel 1/8th root what i am to do is do the root with 7018 and weld it all out then gouge out the back what the problems is there a trick to getting the rod to flow nice to fill th root nice and smooth etc your tips and advice would be greatly appreciated

    The only trick I know is the right heat, and plenty of practice.

    I would say the trick is to get the face of the root in nice and smooth and not worry so much about the back since its going to be gouged out anyway, whats this test for?

    not to be a di@# but maybe you need much more experience..... with those welds being smooth and nice,,,,,, aren't getting good fusion and penetration are not achieved so you need lot's more practice...to not have inclusions and pass x-ray tank or pipe tests,,, or get someone to sneak it for ya and promise not to weld pressure vessels ,maybe do some fitting....till you get it down enough to do a safe job GOOD LUCK!!!
