Thumbs up Air over Hydraulic Jack

Well !! I know that's a deep subject. I finally bit the bullet, took a chance. I went to HF and bought a Air over Hydraulic 12 ton bottle jack for my press. It was on sale for $69.99 plus I had a 20% discount coupon. And guess what? It works better than I thought it would. I wish I bought one long ago. I ask for opinions on this subject but no one answered; so I am glad I took the dive. I bent some 3/8" flat bar like no ones business; now I am looking for 1/2" to bend. I know it will do it with the hand pump because, I did it with my old jack. Just curious if the air drive will do it.

    Hey urch,
Yes, those 12T & 20T air-over jacks are a good buy. Our company bought both about 7 yrs ago & they are still working quite well. I have the 20T in my mobile unit I use occasionally on heavy equipment...hasn't let me down yet. I also have the 10T Porta-Power from HF that went on sale a couple years ago for $89.....it is a superb unit & really can get into some difficult places when most other attempts fail. It has saved my a$$ several times out on the road jobs.

Thanks Denny I am glad to hear that. I too bought a 10 ton porta power from them about 10 years ago for 89 bucks. I just never had or operated a air over hyd. jack before. Either air jacks or hydraulic jacks, but not a combo.

I have the 20T in one of their shop press, works great, Only one caution about the metal bail that locks the air valve open. REMOVE it before it accidentally moves in to the air on. and causes a problem.

It seems to engage at the worst times.
glen, been there, done that and probably broke it!If you aren't on the edge. You'r taking up to much room

    Thanks PT.
I thought that was or could be hazardous. In fact I am surprised they put them on. I will take your advise and remove it very shortly.
