Pull behind implement for garden tractor?

Anybody made one that has wheels you can engage to pull around?

I've seen them on an aerator but can't figure out how to go about adding wheels for a make-shift implement of mine.

Not sure what you're making....but I made a dethatcher with hay raking spring
tines(if thats what they are called). In use it has wheels to roll over the turf and dethatch, but when I want to move it over areas and not dig in, it has a second set of wheels on top so I flip the tongue over and reconnect to the tractor (now it's upside down) and pull it that way. Simple to do.

Might help to have some idea of what it's supposed to do. Implement that has wheels that can be engaged isn't real helpful. How big? How much power does the ground have to produce? I know someone who used an old A/C compressor clutch to disengage/engage a rake. Our old farm implements used chains and and idler that lifted the chain off the drive sprocket. Or a simple square shaft that has a sleeve that slides over another square shaft. All depends on what you are trying to do.

It's actually a 4ft 2 x 12 that I put a 3/16 flat on one side for an edge...welded up a tonque for it ...weight it down a bit....pull it across dug up lawn to level it.

Hadn't thought about the flip over deal but I need to be able to raise it with a lever or something so I can travel over the street for a short piece and across the driveway on-the-go.

So you aren't wanting to engage any kind of drive mechanism; you are just wanting to lift it? I assume you are wanting to do this from the seat of the lawn tractor, right? You could use a rope and some sort of a bellcrank for leverage to push the wheels down and then have a catch that another rope releases, but that seems a little complex for a board. Seems like a set of wheels that rotate down and pin in place would be more than sufficient.

Yeah, that's what I want is to lower the wheels that would raise the sled and travel on the wheels.

I know I was being generous to myself when I called it an 'implement'.

I'll keep fidlin' with it...see if something can be rigged.

Thanks, urch...may go with that cultipacker idea....looks like the tongue just flips over to get it up on the wheels.
