    Belt Grinder Build

    Work is a little slow at the moment so I've spent some time building a belt grinder. I got the idea form this post http://weldingweb.com/showthread.php...t=belt+grinder and changed some things to my liking. So far I'm only in to it $50 for the motor, and $3 for a grind belt.

    I set it up for using 2x72 belts, the motor is a 1 1/2hp 1740rpm, 8" contact wheel.

    Well got the stand done today.




    For the pivot mount I made a saw cut through the 1 1/2 hole and used a 5/8-11 bolt to clamp it up




    Now I have to make a flat platten and guards.....

    Great job. You need to paint Sheboygan or something on it and made in USA. People will think its old time factory made. If recently made in USA it would be covered with warnings to reduce liability. not.

    It did not cost me too much. All I had to buy was the motor, paint, switch, cord, and abrasive belt. The metal, contact wheel and hardware I got from work for free.
    So in total I come up shy of $100.

    Also thanks for the complements. It was a fun, and very useful build.
