The finest, best thought out folding cart design I've seen are Golf Bag Carts, which go at my local Thrift Store for $3.00. I get them with a bag stuffed with clubs for $5.00 at yard sales Large wheels (very important), ultra lightweight, ergonomically placed handle, "sits" well with load on it.

I use one that came with 2" wide plastic wheels for my beach toter for my very large kite bag (I have a lot of kites, and the bag also carries a variety of lines (some require 100# test), two heavy duty "Kite" rods, which are short, stubby fishing rods with roller tips and large salt water reels). the bag probably weights 40 pounds, and is 4 feet long and about 2 feet across.

My Old Car Swap Meet cart is a two wheel (the large wheel one that Harbor Freight sells) hand truck with a plastic Milk Crate zip tied to the 'shelf', which has a thin plywood platform glued to it.. I can carry lots of heavy/chunky treasures, plus tall objects, by bungee-ing them to the tall cart.

Old pull type golf bag carts are good for many things. This is my 30+ year old one. I modified it to haul 125cf tanks from my truck to my shop. Works great for this and should also work great if configured for shopping.

Getting older and sick sucs, the golf carts are a great start to modify into the hook and go or the like. Wife has health issues, and with two parent north of 80 years. This was a fast and cheap solution for me. They are sold at TSC, and the local Meijers, had them on sale after I got the two at Tractor. It also comes with a lawn tractor tow hitch, if you look at the handle you can see that it tilts around.

Has large wheels, steering, dumping can carry 700 pounds their guesstimate. As you can see the wheels close up when dumped. The only mod's I did is add some drain holes in the tub, and replace the cotter pins with the clevis keeper pins.

Rolls easy, can haul everything from the trash to out front or dirt, bricks and shovels all at once. My mother would haul one brick at a time, and then half buckets of dirt, and then a shovel. To out front of the house to do landscape.

Along with the seat on the 4 wheels from HF
    ITEM 91495-0VGA

The only addition was a length of rope so they can pull it around. they are sold in catalogs and the ones at the high end plant stores are the exact HF ones other than the box art at 3 times the price. They go on sale and with a 20%off they are almost a steal.

I had forgotten about the hook and go cart will have to look for another one two make one up!

My former girl friend has one kite (we both have many) that will literally lift you off the ground. I have a Parafoil that will do that as well, but her French Military Kite is cooler. In the first world war (or before) the French would send a "Forward Observer" up attached to one of these kites to map out enemy positions...and attract a lot of Small Arms fire, no doubt!! Not a job I would enjoy!!:

I remember right after WWII, when the Army/Navy Surplus Stores were chock full of neat stuff, they used to sell the target kites- sky blue, with a Jap Zero printed on them. They were large kites used for gunnery practice. I always wanted one, but as a kid, I never could afford the $5.00 or so that they went for.

We flew them at the beach (Gulf Coast, Padre Island). Kites are great fun!! I still fly a few of mine occasionally off the dam here at our lake (no trees or wires, decent wind)

My wife of 30+ years tried to throw away my kite the other day - I hope it's still there. This is the same one who ditched my baby blanket awhile back. I haven't seen my teddy-bear in awhile and am afraid to go looking. We were buds when I was little.

Smile We made our kites in the 50s Who had a dime???

Got the thin rips of wood free from the old mill. Glued newspaper over them. Went to the rag bag in the back hall to make a tail.
None of our gang had a dime! We had a BALL.
When I hit 60 My sister sent Me a package. Iopened it to see My sewn up teddy bear. I imediatly clutched it to My chest. Please don't tell this to any other Marines Pop
