    Hh210

I read these forums several months ago to help me decide what to purchase and then was sidetracked. Back in the market and starting welding classes next week. I am to and fro between the HH187 and the HH210. For future growth the 210 seems the better long term purchase. Anyone know if the HH210 will run behind a 5500watt generator with 8000watts peak?

    NOT an electrician

but I had the same thought not too long ago. Looking at the specs

Amps Input at Rated Load, 50/60 Hz 230 V 24
    kVA 5.33
    kW 4.6

If I'm reading right, then it should take 4600 Watt to reach the rated load.

Lets see if i remember anything from college. V*A=W, so 230V * 24A = 5520 Watts. Hmmm, either me or Hobarts specs are wrong, lets hear it, either way it looks like your under 5500 watt generator.

My 5KW genny delivers 240VAC, as most do. That will result in less current draw at rated output.

I've run my HH210 on the 5KW unit with no problems.

I run my HH210 on a Arctic Cat 6500w generator, no problems .
If your in doubt buy the HH210 , but the HH187 is good for most applications
around the house. I bought the HH210 so I didn't have to second guess my choice , but I probably would of been fine with the HH187!
