    Muffler Racer Finished

I'll still probably antique the whole thing to make it look like its been sitting in a barn for 50 years, but other than that, its done! (its raining today, so I can't do the Walnut Stain treatment).

It has rather ungainly proportions, but, Hey! Its a truck muffler! Golf cart "front end" old wheels from a couple kids bikes, meat grinder intake and hand crank, Harley Crash Bar (post crash) cut into 'exhaust pipes', pieces of wheelbarrow rear portion. Steering wheel rebar through the Ring Roller. Defunct Vacuum gauge and ? gauge. Raidiator is cut from a scrapped AC condensor. Handbrake is fireplace poker with (Chinese) Vise Grip handle (thanks, USMCPOP!), part of bicycle sprocket.added for 'authenticity'. It'll find a home somewhere....folks like these little cars!

I keep saying I recycle this stuff, but apparently the proper term today is "reuse" (I noticed that in the excellent arts program in Oakland Broc posted yesterday, and had been corrected here by a lady much greener than me...at least I thought she looked greener)

Hotfoot, I noticed that two members of your spring collection joined that piece...

    Great job, as usual!

I've got it parked out in the rain to begin its 'aging' process. I really do like rust...must be from my childhood outside Buffalo...

OK, here it is stained (Walnut), then clear sprayed. I did not stain the top of the hood, so you can see the contrast.

Where the stain "works" is in the cracks and crevices, and around details, like the emergency brake lever...the effect is very much like an "old" piece..looks better in person! As you can see by the the little 'pigeon poop' tacks and splatter, I don't spend much time at all pretty-ing these up. Its more like the impasto stokes of a paint brush.

Meat grinder not carb with front mounted crank. Grinds up the competition.

I was going to put dual carbs on it, but was down to three meat grinders in my "Resource Heap", and, being how's this is a "Down and Dirty" (as evidenced by the welds) economy piece, I didn't want to deplete my precious supply on this.

This car started out to be a Curtis P 40 Flying Tiger (from ****pit forward), but I couldn't come up with a proper spinner (the muffler had 'that shape'), so I kept walking past it thinking..."Hmmm...it could be another little car!"...

    Nice

Hotfoot, once again you made something great out of a bunch of nothing.

So tell us the truth, did you experiment with psychedelics in your youth? Because you have way too much creativity.
