    Question electromagnetic field

I would know how to measure the electromagnetic field emitted during arc welding. Francesco Trapani

You would need a gauss meter, if you just want to see the magnetic deflection around the arc. You can use regular ole cheap compasses and watch the needles move when the arc is in progress.
Don't know what it is you are looking for. It has been along time since the navy days on a tin can with the anti mine degaussing equipment and all that goes with it.
I can say that I didn't keep up with the tech or the knowledge base. As not of the RC boats were ever threatened with magnetic mines in the pond.
I would have to hunt up the navsec book on the equipment from the classes we had to take.

Do a google search on magnetics and you will have more than enough info
glen, been there, done that and probably broke it!If you aren't on the edge. You'r taking up to much room

You probably want a magnetometer, a gaussmeter of sorts. There are many different types with different capabilities.

If you really want to find out some of the unique properties of an arc try using a Geiger counter

Was it the TIG or the high frequency?
