    Help a newbie out ...Please!

I have been practicing with my new hh187 and am confident that enough of my welding skill has stayed with me that I am ready to attempt to weld some of my floor plan in my Mustang. The question is what wire size will I need to do this best. I am welding 3/16 framerails and the 19 gauge original floor together. I remember that 023 wire is best for sheetmetal but what about when joining it to a frame rail? I am using C25 and solid wire setup. Thank you for any input...seems if you don't do something for 22 years or so you forget stuff...who knew. Tom

Stick with the .023. It's the best all-around wire for sheet metal, period. If you're worried about getting fusion to the frame rail, just set up for the frame rail and start your arc there. Then, let the bead "wash" into 19ga.

    Take your time!!!!

The sheet metal will want to warp all to **** due to the heat input if you weld too much at one time

**No experience on floor pans just sheet metal

Thanks for the reply. I am going to use a short stitch and then move about a foot stitch and move. The frame rails have been installed but part of them stick up through the pan and they need to be completed. Tom
