    Hobart 250 Amp Tig?

I have the opportunity to buy a used 250 amp Hobart Tig Welder. I don't see a tig this size listed in the current Hobart product line. How old would this welder be? How much are they worth? I'm ready to move from my 135 Handler to the Tig, but I'm concerned about parts availability, ect. Any help would be appreciated.

FERG.............Welcome aboard in 1995 when ITW purchased hobarts the federal trad commission required them to sell of 70-75% of the hobart line up. jThis tig (Tigwave 250) went to thermal arc they no longer support it.............

I have one and although my brother has it currently (haven't seen it in 2 years?????) I still know a lot about it........What would you like to know...........................Rock........

Thanks for the welcome Rock. I wanted to know if parts & service would be a problem for it. I didn't want to get stuck with something I couldn't get fixed. The guy wants $800.00 for it with the cooler. Seems like a steal to me....is it?

That type of machine can be fixed, get a set of schematics and keep them in the drawer. I had my TV repairman bud fix the card on my 300 SQ wave. Looks like mostly off the shelf parts to me.

Hi Ferg.........When ITW purchased hobart's the federal trade commission required them to sell off 70-75% of the welding business hobarts owned.............This unit was one that went to thermal arc...........As far as I know they no longer make this unit but do (I think) still handle the parts for it...............Give them a call they should be able to handle.............Enjoy.............Rock..
