This doesn't look like it would be too hard to build. Interesting idea for cutting square with the recip saw.

Quite clever, but I doubt it always cuts square unless they have some really rigid blades.
I think if you let the weight of the saw make the cut, instead of pushing it, it should make a fairly straight cut.

I don't think I would want to rely on versus a good chop saw or bandsaw, but might be a good setup for some occasional field work, particularly in tight spots etc, or where sparks would be an issue.
I think like Greywynd. It's certainly not a replacement for a good bandsaw. I did no research to see what it would cost, but my guess is that, unless you can fabricate the saw parts, it will not be cost effective. To me, it's a gadget!

I kind of liked the little video they have of a guy cutting angle iron with the recip, but not their attachment. It seems we get lots of questions from people new to welding about how to cut angle iron without a chop saw or bandsaw.

There is not enough hours in the day to wait for that thing to cut a piece of angle iron..........They keep cutting away from the video, but if you watch it cut, it's very slow.

Yup. Looked like a field application. Plasma cutters work in the field, no?

I'd hate to be the guy walking by when it finishes the cut and swings back at me![]()
