true may be better to pop a bit more and get a ryobi than a hf. i use one so rare can't justify a dewalt. always been suspicious about hf power tools but i burnt up my makita side grinder so bought a $20 hf one orange one as i needed to finish some work on a box scrape. figured if i finished it and sharpened my mower blades and it died i got my money out of it. but to my surprise it has been a good little unit.

let me make this PERFECTLY clear, the thread Eddie linked to is one (1) day older than this one, Ray Charles could've found that in a search, and he's blind AND dead.
    O.P., he no search.

I think many of the "relative newcomers" missed the whole point of why some of the "oldtimers" objected to this post to begin with.

For a relative newcomer to come on the board and ask a question which was just answered in another thread is to be somewhat expected and is written off to inexperience (both in welding and board membership).

For the same poster to just post up a whole string of questions on this board as well as several other boards (yes some of us do go to other boards) without doing any work/research on his own is frustrating. Many of the questions could have been answered if he just read his owners manual. Many of the questions could have been answered with a simple search.

Too many newcomers want/demand answers without putting forth any effort on their part. If they take the same approach to welding itself, they will never become proficient. Good welding takes effort and commitment, something some on here don't seem to realize.

This entire post would have never started if the OP had not been too LAZY to do a little work on his own. For what it's worth (I know not much), he along with several others have made my "Ignore this poster" category.

    I'm outa here.

....... I guess babbling on about Fight Club and Sears is really more appropriate...

Here's a novel idea, which apparently most people have not been able to wrap their mind's around. If you don't have anything to add to a thread, stay out of it. If you want to talk about something unrelated to the topic at hand, start your own thread. Does it really get any more straightforward than that?

So, did anyone catch "American Idol" last night? I missed it.

Of course, this begs the question. What is the difference between posting "b.s. and wisecracks" in a thread versus posting a question that can be searched through the forum? Do you honestly feel you are contributing something to the site, whereas the other member is somehow detracting from the site? Here's a novel concept...Why not just skip the thread all together if you have nothing to add?

    Absolutely correct.
Silly boy he did have something to add he suggested the guy attempt a search of the forum first and if nothing turns up then ask a question.

Sounds so simple to me but some of you just like to whine if you don't get what you want and now.

The bigger complaint is you disprove of the delivery Mike used, get over your self.

Its really disappointing, too, because there is a lot of information available on this site. I have learned a great deal from this site, but I have also found that I have to wade through the nonsense from time to time...

    Angry

And people still wonder what is wrong with "young America" today.....(and yes for those of you who don't know me I fall into "young America")
Lazy ........and when you call them on it they (or someone else) spend more time / energy trying to justify there laziness than what it would have taken to just do the work themselves....
I am very disappointed in this as I spent 8yrs of my adult life fighting (and loosing some very great people) for this country (I did this voluntarily and am not asking for anything from anyone). So if I get a little hot under the collar deal with it.... I am stopping myself here as I know the ones who need to hear it will only wine about "how mean and inappropriate " I am being.... to those of you who are nodding your heads (in agreeance) thank you and hopefully we can save a few here and there....if not then remember only the strong will survive.
